Kiyo doesn't ask you to create an account, and it isn't built around collecting your data. This page explains, plainly, the little that the app does touch.
Kiyo asks for your location only while the app is in use, and uses it for exactly one thing: fetching current and forecast weather, UV, and air-quality conditions for your area from Open-Meteo, a public weather data provider. That request goes directly from your device to Open-Meteo — Kiyo has no server of its own sitting in the middle, and your location is never stored anywhere outside your device.
Kiyo Unlocked is a one-time purchase through the App Store — not a subscription, and it never auto-renews or bills you again. Purchases are processed by Apple and by RevenueCat, which we use to check whether you've unlocked the app. RevenueCat receives your purchase/transaction information from Apple in order to tell the app whether you've purchased — it does not receive your location or anything else you do in the app.
Your preferences — activity type, units, theme, skin type (used only to fine-tune UV recommendations), and similar settings — are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data powers the Home Screen widget and never leaves your device.
Kiyo's window alerts are scheduled locally on your device using Apple's notification framework. There is no push-notification server involved, and no notification content is sent anywhere.
If you enter your email to join the waitlist on this page, we store it solely to send you a single email when Kiyo launches, using Resend as our email provider. We won't use it for anything else, and you can ask to be removed at any time — see Contact below.
Kiyo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
